ENTER THE WARRIORS GATE is a certifiable bomb. It probably won't even score above 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. As a matter of fact it already opened in China to a paltry $3.2 million; which means I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Luc Besson made this movie for me.

A trailer for the movie, whose most recognizable actor isn't even its main character, takes us on a journey that gamers would appreciate.

Just read the plot synopsis so you understand what I mean:

Epic fantasy-adventure meets martial arts action in this thrilling film written by Luc Besson & Robert Mark Kamen. After a mysterious chest opens a gateway through time, teen gamer Jack is transported to an ancient empire terrorized by a cruel barbarian king. Jack will need all of his gaming skills as he battles to defeat the barbarian, protect a beautiful princess, and somehow find his way back home.

So here we have a movie about a gamer, living every real-life gamers dream. How many hours do we spend in front of our games, dreaming that the character we created is really us? Game designers know this to be a truth because customizing characters has become a staple in so many fantasy games.

We want to be in the game.

Luc Besson realizes this and decided to make a fantastical movie about why we should probably be careful of what we wish for.

The movie appears to have everything it needs to flop. Cheesy special effect, a boy in street clothes looking very out of place among warriors adorned in pelts and war paint. An odd man who sells magical antiques to children looking for help. A nutty sidekick who knows more than he lets on. It looks like it'll be a classic zero-to-hero story with all the camp to make it a horribly delightful movie.

ENTER THE WARRIORS GATE will be available both theatrically and on-demand, May 5th, starring: Mark Chao, Uriah Shelton, Ni Ni, Dave Bautista, and Sienna Guillory.
